Teacher Academy 2017

On November 1, 2017 we convened our 7th annual Teacher Academy. This year, we hosted our largest group, 114 teachers from all 16 First Ring Suburbs and Cleveland Metropolitan School District, who came together to spend the day networking and learning from one another.

This year was our 7th annual Teacher Academy. Every year we gather teachers representing the First Ring Suburbs and Cleveland Metropolitan School District for a full-day program featuring carefully selected educators who demonstrate to a ‘classroom’ of peers, the strategies and resources that have proven effective in their classrooms. This year was the first year we had teachers from each of the 16 First Ring Suburbs as well as CM.

Every year, Jim Connell from Ursuline College, our emcee, has everyone engage in a fun ice breaker to start the day. It gives all those in attendance a chance to get to know teachers from different districts and help begin the networking for the day.

This year, we had a guest speaker during lunch. As teachers enjoyed a delicious meal, they listened to our keynote speaker, Ben Sapp, Director of the Mazza Museum. The Mazza Museum of International Art from Pictures is a museum located at The University of Findlay. It is an entire museum devoted to illustrations from children’s picture books. Ben gave a great talk about the history of the museum, the tours they give and the art they house.
