Professional Development

The Literacy Cooperative offers a diverse menu of trainings for literacy practitioners, volunteer tutors, and other cross-sector professionals. The Cooperative’s three focus areas of early literacy, capacity building and career pathways are reflected in training offerings that cover best practices & relevant issues in a hands-on, participatory approach. Training sessions provide an important opportunity for dialogue, networking, and exposure to new ideas and strategies from experts in the field. The Literacy Cooperative is committed to ongoing availability of high-quality, literacy-centered professional development for literacy practitioners and administrators.

Literacy Learning Network (LLN)

The LLN is a community of literacy practitioners led by a volunteer steering committee of peers. The steering committee sets the agenda for LLN forums and researches and develops content for the LLN’s online platform. LLN forums provide an avenue for peer engagement, knowledge and information sharing among practitioners.

The purpose of the Literacy Learning Network is to create a community of educators committed to exploring pathways that maximize learning for both themselves and their students, and to provide a collective voice for literacy instruction and action.

Objectives of the LLN include:

  • Exploration and communication of vital research that provides new thinking about teaching and learning in literacy programs
  • Implementation of specific projects that will provide a driving focus for Network members
  • Promoting opportunities for continued motivation for literacy instructors
  • Literacy Learning Network (LLN) Organizing Framework – Learn more.
