LLN Event: Civic Engagement and Education

Come to the next gathering of the Literacy Learning Network for networking with colleagues and learning from an expert panel. Plus, we’ll have a raffle prize and lunch.

The purpose of this event is to help provide information and resources to students from K-12 and adult education and to parents/caregivers on the ways that political activity impacts education, and how students and parents can impact political activity and education policy.

We will explore:

  • Ways that political activity and inactivity impact education.
  • How people can engage and impact a child’s education.
  • What youth can do to make their voices heard.
  • Examples of successful grassroots efforts.

Our panel will include The Honorable Meryl Johnson, member of the Ohio Board of Education and a public education advocate, Carla Hempstead, a CMSD staff member of the Family and Community Engagement Office (FACE), and Milo Korman from Cleveland Lead Advocates for Safe Housing (CLASH), and a few more!

You are encouraged to bring your learners/clients to this event. If they are over 18 year old and have an email address, please have them register. If not, please contact me and we can add them to the registration manually.
