The aim of the event was to improve awareness and literacy education in Northeast Ohio. Each presenter presented 20 slides that they spoke about for 20 seconds each, providing a glimpse into their literacy based work.

Our Executive Director, Bob Paponetti, was the first to present. He spoke about the literacy crisis in Cleveland as well as the work that The Literacy Cooperative does from our adult education work to our early literacy work.
America SCORES Cleveland was next up to present. Elizabeth Geisse, Program Manager, spoke about how they connect soccer and poetry in their program in nine Cleveland Metro area schools.
Pam Jankowski with the Parma City School District, followed with a presentation about the importance of adult education and its impact on family literacy.
Debi Abela, Early Childhood Program Associate for University Circle Incorporated presented on their early literacy field trip program.
Next up is talking about their field trips!!
A presentation on the Reach Out and Read/Ready to Learn by Mahogani Graves the programs site coordinator was next. The program provides books to children during their well-visits.
Playhouse Squares’s Vice President, Engagement and Education, Daniel Hahn, shared about their interactive literacy program that brings reading to life.

Judi Kovach, Co-Founder and Chair of the Kid’s Book Bank, ended the evening with a presentation on her organization’s work to get books into the hands of low-income kids.
