Literacy CLE Powered by PechaKucha Event: Helping to Improve Awareness and Literacy Education in Northeast Ohio

On Thursday, May 26th, The Literacy Cooperative in collaboration with Cleveland Bridge Builders Class of 2016 coordinated a PechaKucha event. Bob Paponetti, our Executive Director, and seven other organizations presented on their literacy based programs.

The aim of the event was to improve awareness and literacy education in Northeast Ohio. Each presenter presented 20 slides that they spoke about for 20 seconds each, providing a glimpse into their literacy based work.

Our Executive Director, Bob Paponetti, was the first to present. He spoke about the literacy crisis in Cleveland as well as the work that The Literacy Cooperative does from our adult education work to our early literacy work.

America SCORES Cleveland was next up to present. Elizabeth Geisse, Program Manager, spoke about how they connect soccer and poetry in their program in nine Cleveland Metro area schools.
