DESCRIPTION
What exactly does it mean for students to be "college ready?" What skills do college and university faculty members say that incoming students lack? What can adult literacy instructors do within the confines of the literacy classroom to help equip students with the requisite skills for continuing education?
These workshops will answer all of those questions and more. They are hands-on, train the trainer sessions, which will allow instructors and tutors to learn to extend the GED curriculum.
Tutors and instructors will leave with a sample of anticipatory sets that they can immediately implement to introduce content to students. These mini lessons will make excellent supplements to your instruction. Participants are encouraged to register for individual workshops or the entire series.
This session is on Transitional Writing. Beyond the 5 paragraph essay; this session will focus upon how to incorporate writing in ways that will help prepare students for college composition.

Space is limited to 30 participants. To register, contact Sarah Upperman by phone, 216-393-4549, or by email, supperman@literacycooperative.org
